Magazine Cover...

After a lot of research into the conventions which should be included in making an effective magazine cover i think we made a successful magazine cover. i believe that the cover consists of all the necessary conventions which together make the magazine cover look every effective.

The title of our magazine cover is 'LCA'- which is the abbreviation for 'Lights, Camera, Action', we decided this title because we wanted our magazine to be focused on films and we believe that the title represented the film industry well. the title instantly signifies that the magazine is based around films. We did the title in big bold writing as the magazines we used as research had a big title so to meet this conventional element we used letters that would stand out.

The structure of our magazine cover was very similar 'Total Film' magazine which was one of the magazines we used to research into conventional elements of magazine covers. As you can see the main character on the magazine cover is looking directly at the audience so therefore we took a picture which was later edited of our main character looking directly at the audience which made the magazine cover really effective as initially we were going to use a screen shot of a scene from the trailer. We were very glad that we did further research into this as all of the  magazine covers we used for research had some sort of figures looking directly at the audience.

This is a screen shot of all the attempts we did for the magazine cover- as you can see we made and edited 20 copies of our picture before we were completely happy with our magazine cover. We developed our magazine cover greatly as we felt there was a lot of room for improvement, we had very different ideas of what we thought made an effective magazine cover and in some ways struggled more with this task then we did with the others mainly because are ideas differentiated.

Poster..

This is our movie poster which i believe is very effective we used many movie posters to highlight the fundamental elements we need to include in order to create a movie poster which is not only effective for our audience but also representing our chosen genre as well as some sort of insight into our plot.

Poster...

This is the picture we have decided to use for our poster- I think this picture is perfect for our poster because it is reflects his troubled past which is signified in him looking at his younger self.

This is the first edited copy of our poster- I made the picture black and white to signify change through time and also to highlight our genre. I think the black and white works really well in relation to our genre. I also distorted the picture to add the mystery elements and to make it effective to look at.

Final Decisions-Setting...

The trailer will consist of many various settings to make it look more realistic, the main setting will be at the lead characters house and at a local isolated park. However there will be some scenes at school, I think including a number of settings will make our trailer be more effective because it will look more realistic

Having a variety of setting makes the trailer as a whole have a better finish becuase if it is in the appropriate setting it creates verisimlitude which enables the audience to sometimes believe what is going on, this can relate back to the Hyperdermic Needle Theory which suggests that when this happens the audience are actively part of the theory as they believe what they are seeing.

Final Decisions- Sound...

Music is a vital part of our trailer so therefore we need to make a soundtrack that will aid in setting a ton and highlighting our chosen genre. We want the music to be quite mellow to begin with but get louder and faster to create mystery and suspence. This will also be effective in addition to the editing of our footage. Sound has the ability to manipulate the emotions of the audience therefore making a soundtrack will more convenient for us becuase we know exactly what we want to include in our trailer for it to be effective

The sound will be created by the group so therefore it will be copyright protected. The software we are going to use is Garageband becuase it is a software that everyone in our group are familar with and it is  quite easy to use. Using a software like Garageband enables us to make something that we will be completley happy with becuase we have had experience using it before.

Final Decisions- Lighting...

For the trailer we will be shooting alot of it in a low key range becuase once the footage is edited as a whole the trailer will look more effective and the genre will also be more obvious to the audience. The main character is very confused and has alot going on in his personal as well as school life, he doesnt have many friends and is alone most of the time therefore the dark, mysterious elements of our genre will be enhanced through the use of low key lighting, giving the effect of being scared and confused

Low key lighting is very effective when it come to setting a tone or creating emphasis on a situation. Creating shadows and having frames which consist of dark backgrounds creates an atmosphere for the audience.
The lighting needs to be considered in all of our footage because it is fundamental for the audience to be able to empathize with the main characters situation. Low key lighting is very effective in thriller/horror trailers as it is able to influence the audience in terms of emotion. The lighting is significant becuase the audience will feel in suspence therefore highlighing our genre.

Final Decisions-Costumer...

The costumes that the character will be wearing are casual clothing because they dont have a proffesion or specific person that they are playing such as a policeman or a superhero therefore their costume will consist of casual clothing becuase their role in the production is of normal people. His role is a normal everyday character aside his mental disorder. The first scene is when our main charact is younf and in school as he is working on a science project, in this scene he will be wearing school uniform.

Animatic for '1/2'

This is the anamatic for our trailer, it gives an idea of what we want to include in our trailer and also the kind of shots we want to include (arrows in opposite directions- shot reverse shot) it also includes the frames were going to use to aid us in editing the footage. Getting good shots and frames when were recording is important becuase it helps us majorly in terms of editing.

This video is about the expectations of our audience. It was made in relation to the questionnaires in order to further develop our production. It helped us get a better idea exactly how much our audience know about our genre and what they expect from it.
